World Organization of Webmasters joins Katrina relief effort

WOW seeks to help Web Professionals affected by the hurricane find work

Folsom, CA Sep 12, 2005 - The World Organization of Webmasters, a non-profit association, has set aside space in its Discussion Forum, http://www.webprofessionals.org/forum/default.asp, to help Web Professionals, both self-employed and regular employees, find work to help replace income lost as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

“We have heard from a number of Web Professionals who have lost everything, including their clients,” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director and founder of WOW. “In our own small, way, we want to help them get back on their feet by helping them find work.”

The service, which is free to all Web Professionals whether they are WOW members or not, takes a two-pronged approach, Cullifer said.

“We hope that Web Professionals who have been affected by this disaster will take advantage of our offer by listing their names, qualifications and contact information in the forum for prospective employers to peruse. We also hope that employers, small-business operators or those who want personal Web sites will list their job opportunities in the Forum for all Web Professionals to see.”

A Web Professional is anyone involved in the design, development, maintenance or marketing of Web sites.

The World Organization of Webmasters is a non-profit professional association dedicated to the support of individuals and organizations who create, manage or market web sites. WOW provides education as well as certification, technical training and employment services to thousands of aspiring and practicing Web Professionals worldwide.
